The 2018 AGM was held on March 23rd on the occasion of the launch preview of the Members’ Photographic Exhibition, this year with the theme of ‘The Land’. The AGM reported on considerable progress with a new fully insulated interior wall at the west end of the building, a new air source heat pump heating system and plans for further improvement this year. The society also benefitted from a large bequest from the estate of the late Bill Scott of £25,000 to help with improvements to the gallery.
It was noted that the new heating system will enable economic extension of the gallery’s season into the winter months, with opportunities to make the gallery space available fo a wide range community uses, from meetings and workshops through to small scale performances – music, dance or drama.
Although the gallery no longer receives any kind of funding support from the Highland Council or High Life Highland, we continue to be able to offer two months’ worth of High Life Highland provided exhibition, in June and September, continuing our tradition of being the only public art gallery in the Cairngorms National Park, whilst all members’ exhibitions and solo or group ‘private’ exhibitions will continue to be free entry. The society looks forward a positive future, going from strength to strength with the continuing support of our members and friends.
